How To Write A Killer Headline

We all know how important having an effective headline is in copywriting. Thus, it would make sense to want to know just how to write a killer headline. There are actually tips on how you can achieve this. But to employ these important tips, you first have to understand the importance of your headline, and the role it plays in the overall success in copywriting.

Your headline is the first thing your prospect would notice at first glance. If your headline does not grab the attention of your readers, then who’s to say if your article would ever be read or even browsed through? There have even been studies done to determine just how effective headlines can be. The simplest modification of a headline, just to make it more interesting, actually prodded additional orders for a particular product or service all they way up to 300%. Because of that simple change, that company experienced such a huge boost in sales. This is how important a killer headline is.

Aside from functioning as the main tool in grabbing the attention of prospects, the headline also funnels the right people for the market you are targeting. If you are targeting the vast market of tennis fans and lovers of the game, then employing a killer headline about tennis can weed out the people who are not into the game. Pre-qualification is then done by your headline.

Now that you know the hefty role headlines play, let’s get down to the types of headlines that have been proven effective, and these are very easy to implement as well!

How-to headlines

Let’s face it: these headlines are very effective because they give you that assurance of a solution for whatever problems your prospects may have at the m
oment. Remember that movie entitled How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? The article written by Kate Hudson’s character in the movie grabbed the attention of a lot of people all over New York City. The same concept is in play in both the movie and the how-to headline. Also, the prospect of finding a solution for whatever problem can indeed draw the attention of any person. However, you have to remember that readers will not see you as an authoritative figure that deserves to be shelling out solutions for the problems they are currently dealing with. Thus, you have to earn the trust and respect of your readers. You can do this by emphasizing the many benefits your readers can enjoy with your products and services. Make the article solely about them, so that much of their attention would be grabbed instantly.

Question headlines

From the type itself, this headline actually poses a question to your readers. But if you want this type of headline to be as effective as possible, then you have to make sure the question you pose is a question your readers will be interested to answer. Your question has to tickle the curiosity of your readers. Otherwise, your readers will just skim through your article, without bothering to get even the gist of it. Of course, your article should still focus on the benefits of your product or service that your customers will enjoy.

Top 10 reason headlines

Of course, it’s not really necessary to have ten as the figure here. It does not even have to be the Top anything at all. You can choose whatever figure you want here, but you have to make sure that the concept behind these reasons is interesting enough as well. The concept has to be as intriguing as possible.

These are just some of the methods wherein you can write killer headlines for your articles. You can try any of these and see how they work for you yourself.
