How to Handle Stage Fright

Beat Stage Fright

I was happy to read comments on my articles posted at Article Income.com. And I was asked to brief on how I handle stage fright ...I guess all speakers place stage fright right on top of their concern list. Does this line ease your anxiety already? Yes, the first tip is not to worry. Think positive. Fear will come but you are positive that you will be able to push the fear as far away as possible. Imagine the audience applauding you - liking you.Never rush. Make sure you have ample time before your speech. Talk to the others, friend or stranger, calmly, on a topic you like. If this is not possible, just count slowly in your head. And, when the time comes, up you go, confidently take your place. Again, take time to bring yourself into line. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe…

Remind yourself that you are in control. You need to get this done and you will do it beautifully.

Know  your content of speech (of course, you should only speak on topics you are familiar with). Still, keep notes handy. Having them with you eliminates a huge amount of stress. A note of caution, though! Don’t hold the notes in your visible trembling hands. You don’t want the world to see you shaking.

Audience are responsive. Try to locate attentive listeners. You should be able to find at least one. Focus on these listeners every now and then. Try to get the audience involved. You will be amazed to see the respond. When you see them happy participating, the load on your shoulders lightened. As always, experience is gold. After a while, you will get the drill. The cycle will continue and you know that life is beautiful.

Awesome! You're quick Lailiah! Great tips. I've experienced stage fright too. My mouth was trembling while delivering my speech and tried really hard to control it. I took a deep breath, did my best to relax and thought positively, reminding my goal to deliver it clearly and beautifully and it did work! :)

If there is something I really hate to do it is doing a speech in front of people. Speaking in front of many people scared the hell out of me.

Even if I read lots of advices regarding handling stage fright it never change me. But I think today I don't feel much stage fright compared before. Maybe it is also a matter of maturity.
