Common Sense
Pouring rain and freezing temperatures in Dublin…Heck, it's Thursday, One more day to go and the Weekend shines through! (Do not misunderstand me, its going to rain the whole weekend but at least no work for two days . )
I am wondering:
Why people do not feel happy to go to work. Every single morning when I wake up and get out the house, you see people with frustrated faces, thinking why they got up and out of bed for this morning. Just to spent 7 or 8 hrs in a job that they hate and which they are not recognized for. The most common answer to this would be ‘you need to work in order to get money which is necessary for surviving in this world. To buy food, pay for electricity, gas, etc…TRUE, but do we really have to do something that we don't like?
Well at this time of year, with that bloody recession, which now some companies with a turnover of millions every year use as an excuse to underpay their employees.
I would say yes. Be happy that you still have your job. As crappy or underpaid you might be, at least you have one.
Here in Ireland, you can definitely feel the difference. Luckily I still have my current job but I am applying for a better one, aren't we all looking for some more €€€
.
When I was surfing the job openings today, I actually saw some interesting applications in which I was 100% sure that I was the man for the job. As I read through the description the first thing that caught my eye was the salary. Only floating close to 18-24k. Already, based on my experiences, this is extreme low. The description of the job was actually similar to the one I am doing now. The only difference was that next to the words ‘experience requested' they wrote 4-6 years….
When I woke up, after falling of the chair from the shock, hitting my head on the edge of the table and screaming like a girl, I realized that this was really taking advantage of good workers.
When I started at this job, I didn't have any experience at all and they accepted me with a phone call. I am even making more then what was written there.
Bottom line is, if you are searching for work now, you need to be like a manager to get a janitors wage.
Let us just hope that this ‘crisis time' ends and we get all back to what we are used to. That we are all getting paid what we deserve and that people can wake up with a smile and saying: ‘ Its Monday, another week in work but this time I am getting rewarded for my efforts'
Lets hope that all is going to be better soon.
Many thanks for reading.
Hope you have enjoyed it
