I've got the chills by reading this article. Maybe a little bit emotional. Kids so profound and insightful. I'm amazed by them and their answers to WHAT LOVES MEAN. Thank you very much I'm spreading this article to the people I love.

this is fake...4/5 year olds would not say things like that....idiots

Posted by Sarah (guest) - Jul 22, 2009, 6:16 pm

Actually, that's not entirely true. MY neice is four and I asked her what love was. And she said, "It's when boys and girls kiss and hug and smile a lot." Which is somewhat similar to some of the things these kids are saying.

Posted by Rachel (guest) - Jul 29, 2009, 3:31 pm

Because 4-5 year old children are inhuman and don't know what love is, right?
I think it's sweet.

Posted by justin (guest) - Sep 20, 2009, 6:33 pm

You're a d*ck John. I read this while watching the Bears game and have a small tear in my eye. Plus my daughter is always saying cute, smart stuff like this. She's 6.

Posted by sarah (guest) - Oct 17, 2009, 11:06 pm

apparently, john, you don't know any 4/5 year olds.

its nice....but somehow....i dont exactly believe that these are genuine....i think somebody just fabricate this....but its great even its fake.....keep up the good work....hahaha!=)

it's the little things that we adults seem to not notice anymore that are easily noticeable by these kids..simple, yet meaningful!..it just brings warmth to my heart to have to read 'em!

#23 Posted by Kathleen (guest) - Aug 22, 2009, 9:39 am Rating: ratingfullratingfullratingfullratingemptyratingempty Unrated

I realize that this might sound as bad as when people post "photoshopped" when they see beautiful or amazing pictures on the web, but I must say this article is obviously written by an adult. I am a mother and former teacher, now family therapist, and I don't think these are the ways children express themselves. Anyone who knows kid art can spot "kid art" done by adults, and this is just the same. Tip off: what kid in the last 15 years has known who Robert Redford is or used him as an example of a sex symbol?

Posted by Jim (guest) - Sep 10, 2009, 11:26 am

Kathleen.. to answer your question: A kid who hears her mother say 'Robert Redford' repeatedly in contrast to her attraction to her father perhaps?

I've seen young children express insight in many ways and I'm really not that old. They may not understand the impact of their words but that doesn't make the simplicity of their words/actions any less beautiful. I don't think these kids are logically trying to make prose..which is exactly what makes it so splendid

Posted by It's written by an adult (guest) - Apr 18, 2010, 7:24 pm

Because the last thing kids "hear" on christmas morning after the presents are opened is "love" hahaha.

Posted by matt (guest) - Jun 22, 2010, 4:25 pm

If Mom or Dad always says it, of course a kid will say it not knowing exactly what it means, or who Robert Redford is. Lay off the criticism and just appreciate it

#25 Posted by anon (guest) - Sep 8, 2009, 10:21 pm Rating: ratingfullratingemptyratingemptyratingemptyratingempty Unrated

Some people are so gullible!!!

Posted by saturnx311 (guest) - Sep 14, 2010, 2:04 pm

You must be terribly afraid of what people think of you. Being called gullible must be the worst thing you can think of, so it's safer if you don't believe or trust anything. That way no one will call YOU a fool. It's a poor philosophy for getting through life. I hope you can become less jaded-- and live life according to your own rules-- not other people's.
There is nothing in what any of the kids in this article say that would tell you they are written by an older person.
Tell me: do you believe that Osama bin Laden is responsible for 9/11? Then tell me YOU are not gullible.

Those were beautiful. Oh to have the mind of a child.

#29 Posted by Asheila. (guest) - Sep 13, 2009, 4:28 pm Rating: ratingfullratingfullratingfullratingfullratingfull Unrated

I don't care if it's fake or not. The meaning is still the same no matter who it comes from.

Posted by HarryH (guest) - Sep 15, 2009, 11:37 pm

I think Asheila has it right. It doesn't matter if the kids said what was written.

Posted by Hobittual (guest) - Sep 19, 2009, 6:38 pm

Don't be stupid, it means nothing if it doesn't come from a child. Lord help us, it is just lies!

Posted by SoylentGreen (guest) - Oct 7, 2009, 11:24 am

Hobit... sounds like you should re-read some of these and take 'em to heart!

kids are smarter than what we give them credit for. They see the world in with eyes we've forgotten how to use a long time ago.
this made me smile.

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.

You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

There's something very profound about that.

#38 Posted by Beth (guest) - Feb 22, 2010, 9:23 am Rating: ratingfullratingfullratingfullratingfullratingempty Unrated

Very cute. Although, I have to agree with some of the other comments and say that some of the things that were supposedly quoted by children seem a little far fetched ~ like quote #2 from a four year old.

Because, really, the only kind of love can be between males and females. Go heteronormativity! (Otherwise, theoretically adorable.)

Posted by salire (guest) - Sep 3, 2010, 2:43 pm

sorry, but i really don't see how, just because these 'children' or whoever wrote this say that they see love between men and women suggests that there is no other kind of love. when i was four, i had no idea that gay people existed.

hell, at nine i had to ask my mother if i was gay because i loved her after watching a documentary about a transwoman and her partner.

it's kind of the same way that, at four, i had no idea that there were people that don't speak english. it doesn't mean that these people weren't valid or that they didn't exist. it just meant that i hadn't been exposed to them yet, because where i live, i don't see people speak other languages much.

besides that, over half of these aren't particularly talking about male-female romantic love. a lot involve the love of a parent ("My mommy loves me more than anybody . You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.") or are just general rules for love ("Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.").

just because homosexual love isn't mentioned, doesn't mean this article is being discriminatory, consciously or otherwise. it doesn't mention polygamy or objectophilia either. there are different kinds of love and different people in love. no one would ever be able to list them all or make a list that encompasses every aspect of it, and yelling discrimination because the list is too 'heteronormative' for your taste is silly and a waste of breath.

I don't think this is real.. Kids don't generally say things like this. Sure, they may say "It's when you hug and kiss a lot." but they don't say things that profound. It's a cute fake article though.

#46 Posted by Katie (guest) - Dec 27, 2010, 12:41 pm Rating: ratingfullratingfullratingfullratingfullratingfull Unrated
